Tips for Employees on Working With a Recruiter

For many, working with a recruiter is a new and intimidating experience. If finding employment through a staffing agency is new to you, or if your previous experiences were not successful in the past, here are some tips on how to best work with a recruiter!

Be Honest

One of the many benefits of working with a recruiter is that you can be totally honest about your employment goals, and your personal experiences. As your recruiter, our goal is to match you with a career that you will both be successful at and enjoy. If there are specific hopes you have for your career (regarding pay, hours, career growth, etc.), you should feel encouraged to share those with your hiring expert. Even if the job you applied for doesn’t match your hopes, it is possible a recruiter has other opportunities for you that may be a better fit.

Being honest goes for hindrances to being hired as well. If you have concerns about why you may not be hired, such as lack of experience, a background that may be a deterrent for some employers, etc., it is important to share those with your recruiter. These things will come out at some point, and it is better to be upfront, so your recruiter can advise how to address these concerns or if there are other positions you may be a better fit for.

Honesty is the best way to ensure your long-term success in a career.

Be Open

Recruiters are experts when it comes to finding success in careers. Our recruiters have been working with clients for many years. We understand what makes employers excited about candidates and what may deter employers. It is important to trust your recruiter’s expertise and be open to their advice.

Your recruiter may advise on how to improve your resume, how to present yourself professionally, etc. It is important to understand that this advice is given based on years of experience and with your best interest at heart. If anything seems unclear to you, ask questions! Our recruiters want more than anything to help, so if you have questions or concerns along the way, we are open, too.

Keep In Touch

The nature of our business is a revolving door of employment opportunities. We always try our best to find opportunities for our candidates at the time of application, but if the right fit isn’t available right away, stay in touch! Feel free to check back in with your recruiter and see what opportunities are available down the line. We have been fortunate to place employees in jobs multiple times throughout the span of their careers as people have continued to grow, and their career objectives have changed.

Even if the right opportunity comes along now, keep your recruiter in mind as things change for you down the line! We would love to be a part of your success story.

If you are an employee looking for work, there is no cost to you in working with a recruiter. There is nothing to lose and a future to gain! If you are interested in taking a step in your career, call Entech today at (248) 528-1444.
